Tracking began on 26 September 2026. We do not yet have a reliable generation-specific time series, so there is no historic price change to report. When enough year groups are available, their table compares different cars registered in different years; it is not a price trend.

Country medians reflect different mixes of cars. Registration tax, VAT and transport can change the landed cost; these figures are not a like-for-like import saving.

The largest published first-registration-year group in this cohort is 2006: 13 cars with a median asking price of €11,500. That figure describes those cars today; it does not show how their prices have changed over time.

Overview

The Alfa Romeo Brera 939 is the Giugiaro-shaped coupé launched in 2005 and discontinued in 2010. It was conceived as a substantial grand tourer, with a distinctive glass-roof cabin and a choice of front-wheel drive or, on the original V6, Q4 four-wheel drive. Enthusiasts value its design and the contrast between its engines: the V6 offers sound and all-weather traction, while the later turbo petrol offers a different balance. The UK-only Prodrive Brera S adds a genuinely altered chassis, making its identity more important than an ordinary trim badge. (Autocar, Alfa Romeo, checked 4 November 2026.)

Versions and engines

  • Launch range: The 2.2-litre JTS petrol made 185bhp and the 3.2-litre JTS V6 made 260bhp in Alfa Romeo’s UK technical data. A 2.4-litre JTDm five-cylinder diesel was also offered. (Alfa Romeo, Autocar, checked 4 November 2026.)
  • Drivetrains: Six-speed manuals were central to the range; automatic or Selespeed availability depends on engine and market. The V6 was originally available with Q4, and a front-wheel-drive V6 followed. (Alfa Romeo owner handbook, Autocar, checked 4 November 2026.)
  • Later engines: The 1750 TBi turbo petrol and 2.0-litre JTDm diesel joined late in production. The handbook lists both alongside the older engines. (Alfa Romeo owner handbook, checked 4 November 2026.)
  • Brera S: Introduced in 2008 for the UK and developed with Prodrive, it paired the 2.2 JTS or front-drive 3.2 V6 with bespoke springs, dampers, wheels and interior details. Alfa Romeo limited it to 500 numbered cars. (Alfa Romeo, checked 4 November 2026.)

What drives the price

Read this section: What drives the price

Establish the engine and drivetrain first: a Q4 V6, a front-drive V6, a late 1750 TBi and a diesel answer different buyer needs. The Brera S is a specific Prodrive-developed car, so look for its numbered identity, correct wheels and suspension, and supporting paperwork. On any version, a complete history is especially valuable when it shows attention to petrol timing chains or diesel belt and water-pump work. Rare trim alone cannot offset gearbox noise, a corroded front subframe or worn suspension. Compare the roof, seats and switchgear too; model-specific replacement pieces can be difficult to source. (Alfa Romeo, Autocar, checked 4 November 2026.)

Common problems and what to inspect

Read this section: Common problems and what to inspect

Petrol engines use timing chains, while the diesels use cambelts. Ask about warning lights, cold-running noise and documented repairs rather than assuming that a chain needs no attention. A diesel belt invoice should show whether the water pump was replaced. On a manual, listen for the M32 gearbox’s characteristic bearing whine, particularly in the higher gears. On a Q4 car, listen for propshaft-bearing noise. (Autocar, checked 4 November 2026.)

Get beneath the front of the car: Autocar identifies corrosion where the undertray traps water against the subframe. On the road, clunks can indicate upper-wishbone wear or broken springs; uneven rear tyre wear can point to a worn hub bush. Check steering feel, electric windows and every cabin switch. A diesel that struggles to run cleanly also warrants investigation of its emissions equipment. (Autocar, checked 4 November 2026.)

Running costs

Service needs differ markedly by engine. The diesel’s cambelt and water pump are planned maintenance; the petrol timing chains are condition-sensitive work that should be assessed against symptoms and records. Autocar recommends regular oil and filter changes and highlights tyre wear, suspension joints and Q4 propshaft bearings as potential costs. For a Brera S, verify that replacement suspension parts preserve the Prodrive specification if that is why the car commands interest. Consult the handbook and invoices for the exact engine before setting an interval. (Autocar, Alfa Romeo, checked 4 November 2026.)

FAQ

Read this section: FAQ

Is the Brera S just a styling package? No. Prodrive developed its springs, dampers, geometry and wheels, and Alfa Romeo numbered the cars. (Alfa Romeo, checked 4 November 2026.)

Which Brera has four-wheel drive? The original 3.2-litre V6 could be specified with Q4. Check the particular listing: later front-drive V6 cars also exist. (Alfa Romeo owner handbook, checked 4 November 2026.)

What does an M32 gearbox fault sound like? Bearing wear can produce a whine on the move. Have the gearbox identified and assessed before buying. (Autocar, checked 4 November 2026.)

Where should a Brera be checked for rust? Examine the front subframe behind the undertray. Surface appearance alone does not establish its condition. (Autocar, checked 4 November 2026.)
